I sell things on eBay. I sold an item to a fellow in Southington and mailed it yesterday. It should get delivered today. But I notice in tracking it went from the Meriden PO to Springfield, (probably through Wallingford), and then back to Southington. How much time and money and gas was wasted doing that? At the least you would think that it would go from Wallingford to Southington.

I've also noticed when selling things going South like to NYC area and Long Island and I drop them off in Meriden they go to Springfield, (through Wallingford?), to New Jersey and back to New York. If I drop them off in either the Wallingford or Yalesville Sub they go to New Jersey then back to New York.

As we use to say in radio in the service "INT What the ----?"

(INT turns a Q signal or Z signal into a question. IE: "INT ZBO K" - "How many messages do you have for me?" RESPONSE "ZBO 2 K" - "I have 2 messages for you).

Both UPS and Federal Express use a "hub" system... consolidating shipments first at a central location, like Memphis, and then making shipments to the major hubs. I'm sure the USPS does the same.
