Anyone in The Club ever participate as a Station or make contacts in this Event?

Would the Club consider hosting a Station at a Lighthouse/Lightship?

Rob, I am a certified Lighthouse Chaser, although I don't attend LA meetings Cool. The ILLW week is one of several QSO parties that are sponsored by ARLHS (www.arlhs.com) such as, Spring Lites, Christmas Lites, Halloween Houses, etc. These are parties and not contests - laid back special events. The QSL cards are usually pretty nice and informative. Good paperhanging material.

There are 26 lighthouses in Connecticut ~ you can find a list on the World List of Lights (WLOL) on the ARLHS web site. In New Haven, you have Five Mile LH (Lighthouse Point) and SW Ledge, plus two historic (no longer existing) at Long Wharf and Sperry Point (SE Ledge). LH/LS can be activated at any time. There are usually 6 -12 on the air each weekend (There is an e-mail reflector, BeaconBot, that will keep you posted) mostly by pleasure boaters, campers, ex Coast Guard and the idle rich.

Rules for activating, contacting, participating, et al is on their web site. Most activation run for a couple of hours then move to another site or go back to the "honey do" list.
