1A0C Sovereign Military Order of Malta is active from Dec. 28th, 2014 to Jan. 6th 2015 and it will be concentrated on HF to provide a QSOs especially to North American West Coast and Japan.

They have been well spotted and have a good signal. They were strong this morning on 12 meter CW, (where I finished my last band for them), and are spotted on 10 meters and 17 meters right now. They have good signals on both bands. S.M.O.M. is an actual DXCC Country but is physically a building in Rome Italy, so you can expect the same propagation as Italy.

QSL's go via Direct or OQRS. Read their QSL Policy at: http://www.1a0c.com/qsl-information/ they do LBOTW for a small donation.

This country is "semi-rare". They are usually active only certain times of the year, normally around the Christmas / New Year Holiday. You may find them in an occasional contest. They are all excellent operations so it should not take long to break the pileup.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the Heads-Up Al, he is my first 2015 QSO.

On 12M split 5-10 up.

Great! Get ready for a real challenge at the end of the month. Navassa Island the Number One on the DXCC Needs list will be active. Keep an eye out here for announcements.

(Can't believe that it's higher up on the list than North Korea.)

Well I never found my callsign in his log so back to the mic I went.
Got him square this morning on 10M, no question he was 10 over too.

I feel like I won the lottery or something!!

He very well could have miscoppied your call. After they come out with the QSL manager send an email and ask them to check your call in the log. You should get an answer back if it is right or wrong.

I get logged as N1AP Tony in MA a lot especially on CW but sometime on phone too. Also on phone I get mixed with N1APY Craig, an ex club member. Not the much on RTTY since my call is sent several times in the exchange.

In the heat of the battle to keep the rate up they miss a few, especially the rarer countries. You always see the "my call missing" posts on the cluster.
