I'm almost ready to go with the new radio computer. I am just waiting for the COM1 header to come in which I should get in a couple of days.
But I have made a lot of progress. 98% of the programs are installed and ready to test out. I've verified that the USB CW keying will work with N1MM and also CW Type. I've also put the backup for the Club's Win1010 information in the bay and that works well, so I will be able to keep updating the club's Win1010 stuff which I transfer to the club's laptop occasionally.
The XP side is about as done as it's going to get because my satellite program will not run on this computer. Guess I'm going to have to find something for the Windows 7 side, (the side which will run most of the time).
I got a 21.5" Samsung Monitor and also a riser to put the monitor on. It worked out well because the new monitor it just a little taller than the 19" Acer I have now. Check the attached photo and you will see how things will mostly be set up. I've got RXCluster running on the new computer and the old computer will run the ham programs for a few days more.
The old monitor is sitting on my three TNCs but the new computer is taller so I will just need to find a way to raise the monitor up about 2" or so. I'd like to tip it forward slightly, (more than the stand will let me), and move it forward physically closer to the new monitor. Anyone got any ideas or even something that will do this let me know. I know I'm looking up at the second screen but it will be just used for contesting and the windows that I may need to refer to or don't need to have in front of me like the Telnet window which at times when I was running digital I had to push in back of the log. Even the log can go on the upper screen but that's all for testing when I get everything set up. Most of the time I may only be running off one monitor anyway, the second one is primarily for the contests where I need a lot of screens open.
