Does the club have a rotor? I believe I saw a rotor controller in the cabinet.

RE: ARRL 10 METER CONTEST - KC1BAQ - 11-22-2014

Great breakfast guys! We had 7 folks show up as listed above. Dave and Rob will probably send out some notes from the meeting.

I think we decided that there is interest in a monthly breakfast meeting of the unofficial "contesting committee" to discuss upcoming events and coordinate contest operations. All are welcome to participate.

RE: ARRL 10 METER CONTEST - W1CTN - 11-23-2014

To all...
I have a Hy Gain 3 element 10 meter beam the club can use for the 10 meter contest.

I also have all the parts to make 2 element beams
When the day comes that the telephone poles are installed we can think about larger fixed yagis pointed into Europe.

Roughly 5 db of gain can be obtained with a 2 element yagi utilizing a driven element - reflector combination.
Place the reflector .02 wavelength behind the driven element
This spacing will yield almost a perfect match to 50 ohm transmission line.

Only drawback is the front to back ratio is only 12 db, but the 2 element beam is the easiest way to obtain appreciable gain at a very cheap cost $$$

More chat later

It appears that the club amp is wired for 220V. We'd either need to make a modification or use another amp.

Do you think we could unplug the oven in the kitchen and use that outlet?

73,
Joe

Not correct .. the AMP has been wired for 120 for a long time now ..going back years.

RE: ARRL 10 METER CONTEST - KC1BAQ - 11-25-2014

Thanks, Rich. Several of us thought that it was wired for 220V because the plug looked different. I've attached a picture of a similar plug found on the internet to this reply.

If its wired for 110V do we need to have a special outlet installed or do you just use an adapter? Also, how much current does the amp draw? Does it pull more than a standard 15amp circuit can provide?

Thanks and 73,
Joe
