ARRL January VHF Contest - N1API - 01-26-2015 Please post results and stories here by replying to this message and changing the title to your call. N1API January Contest Results - N1API - 01-26-2015 Here are my results. Sort of a bust with no 6 meter openings. There did not seem to be a lot of people working this. 2 meters was poor and 432 nearly useless. I made a quick change to my 2 / 432 antenna set up by putting a switch in and adding the ability to use the 2 meter / 432 vertical on the very top of the tower. But it did not seem to give me any new capabilities. Here are my results: START-OF-LOG: 3.0 LOCATION: CT CALLSIGN: N1API CLUB: Meriden ARC CONTEST: ARRL-VHF-JAN CATEGORY-OPERATOR: SINGLE-OP CATEGORY-ASSISTED: ASSISTED CATEGORY-BAND: ALL CATEGORY-MODE: MIXED CATEGORY-POWER: LOW CATEGORY-STATION: FIXED CATEGORY-TRANSMITTER: ONE CLAIMED-SCORE: 451 OPERATORS: N1API NAME: AL ADDRESS: ADDRESS-CITY: Meriden ADDRESS-STATE-PROVINCE: CT ADDRESS-POSTALCODE: 06451 ADDRESS-COUNTRY: UNITED STATES Band ---- Mode ---- QSOs ---- Grid 50 ------- CW ------- 1 ------- 0 50 ------- USB ----- 22 ------- 6 144 ------ USB ----- 14 ------- 4 420 ------ USB ------ 2 ------- 1 Total ---- Both ---- 39 ------ 11 Score 451 I only ran into two club members and of those I think only 1 will submit a log. So we may not make the minimum number of entries to get listed. I think that if the club had tried to do this from the club location it would have been a disappointment to the operators so the club was best off having those who wanted to work this one do it from home. For those who have not looked over the rules there is an "FM ONLY" category for 6, 2M and 432 MHZ only with a 100 watt limit. So if you do have a pretty good 2 meter / 432 Mhz FM rig and a fair antenna you can make a stab at that category on a simplex frequency. You can't USE Spotting assistance but you CAN be spotted, so looking over the rules I don't see where a station who is working all mode can't work the FM Simplex stations for contact credit. Something to think about for the June VHF contest. Al -N1API RE: ARRL January VHF Contest - N1ZN - 01-27-2015 Not much effort on my part this contest. Too many other things going on.
