Not a lot of play time this weekend, but made a small contribution to the club totals.

N1API ARRL Phone DX Contest Score and Musings - N1API - 03-02-2014

Another BIG weekend for me! I usually go into these contests without a set purpose and develop one along the way depending on the conditions of the bands and how the contest is going.

10 meters was huge this weekend with signals all the way from 28.300 to 29.000. The only reason everyone was not using the top 700 mHz was that the AMers and FMers were using it. The other phone bands were full from top to bottom.

All the band were open world wide. 10 meters was probably the best and most productive band for everyone. Europe was still coming in until late in the afternoon, 7 or 8 PM for some of them, quite unusual. Sunday toward the end of the contest South America had major flutter on the signals but the JA's were 5x9 loudest I've heard them in many years. No real shocking contacts though I was surprised to work an HS0 on 10 meters early morning with my beam toward Europe. He was only there for a few minutes and worked about a dozen lucky stations.

Here's the damage
