Worked All States (WAS) Logging
#1
Hey folks, I know its not really a contest, but thought this post might be best suited here.

I've got N1MM installed on my laptop at home and was wondering if they had a log for WAS (worked all states). I really enjoyed learning how to use this program in the sweepstakes contest and was hoping I could use the cluster features in the software to identify states that I needed to complete a WAS application.

For those who have completed a WAS in recent years, please let me know how you kept your log and if you used a cluster to help you find states you needed to work.

Thanks and 73,
Joe

I believe you can use "DXpedition and just keep logging. It's there for DXpedition use but no reason you can't use it from "here" and just open the window to show states rather than counties. Guess you could also use it as a free general logging program. You can make a Cabrillo or ADIF file to upload Logbook Of the World for ARRL Credit.

I just checked the N1MM "Digging Deeper" section in the manual, I hope that this formats OK....

From the N1MM Manual:

2.1.3.1 General Contest Logging (all modes)

Contest -- Log Type and Setup Link ---- Remarks
DX -- (General log) -- DX -- Sent RST, Received RST fields, Name and Comment field
DXPEDITION -- DXPEDITION -- Only has Sent and Received RST fields
DXSERIAL -- DXSERIAL -- Sent and received RST, Nr fields and a Comment field for Generic Serial number contests. Default multipliers and points.
DXSATELLIT -- DXSATELLIT -- Only three fields: Call, Grid and Satellite
VHFDX -- VHFDX -- Sent RST, Received RST fields, Grid and Comment field
VHFSERIAL -- VHFSERIAL -- Sent and received RST, Nr fields and Grid fields. For generic VHF serial number contests. Comments possible

If you want names and comments go with DX, just the RST report go with DXpedition.

I use the "DX" Setup of N1MM+ for General Logging, in Mixed Mode. I use it for Phone, RTTY, BPSK and will (hopefully soon) for CW.
When I change modes (to and from SSB/RTTY/BPSK or other Digi-Modes), it's as simple as typing "RTTY", "LSB" or "USB" into the Call Window (where the callsign normally goes) to change mode.

Interface it with your radio and it will all be automatic. (But you knew this already right?)

Haha... yes but I use AFSK in USB mode which is a little involved. The rig is interfaced with the software and AFSK works ok but Tuning Up requires more steps than FSK.
I just purchased an interface kit to be able to use true FSK with my TS-450 which will make my life a little easier (aka: fun) in this mode.
