I was quite pleased with the 40 meter results. I started out on 40 meters Friday night and it was worth it. I worked 40 meters Saturday night and then got up at 5 AM Sunday to check 40 and that proved to be a good thing as I was able to work a couple of Hawaiian stations along with a few new multipliers. I ended the contest on 40 meters except for the last half hour or so when it seemed everyone moved to 40. One thing I noted a lot of stations read my call as N1APS and I had to correct quite a few through out the contest.

One of the last multipliers that I worked was a VK6 on 20 meters for a new zone and country. As I listened to him and started to move the antenna I could hear he had a huge pile up and people were having a tough time working him. The signal was not a strong as I would have expected. Then I realized as I was moving the beam, long path. Sure enough pointed the antenna about 125 degrees and he was 59. Came back to me on the second call. Only a few other realized that and were getting contacts. Earlier in the contest I also worked one other station who was long path.

A fun weekend on the radio. Hope you had some time to play also. Please submit your log for the the Meriden ARC as your club.
