Does every qualifying contact have to be unique? For example, I might work a station twice during a contest, depending on the rules. Or, I may work the same station again during another contest.

Don't worry about dupes... it's too much work especially for new Hams trying to figure all this stuff out.  For this year's event count every QSO, even the dupes.
