10 m CW hopping...
#1
It's 5 pm on Thursday afternoon here in Wallyworld, and I've worked New Zealand and Guam on 10 m CW with the 100 w and G5RV antenna! The SFI (solar flux index) is up to 126, which is not that high, but signals are pouring in...

Hey Paul!

Yes 10M was WIDE open yesterday. Had to come home to fix the YL's car so I just HAD to get in an hour of DX too. Made a Guam station on SSB/10M, Ireland, England, Bulgaria and Norway.

Wish I had a few more hours of mic time but alas; had to get out in the rain to replace a battery and terminals....

Well it's Saturday afternoon about 1259 PM, 1652 UTC and last couple of days I've been dealing with a problem with my "big" computer so my time to get on the air has been limited. I'm working off the backup computer, (my laptop).

There are a number of things going on this weekend. The 10-10 CW QSO Party. A DX contest of some sort, the NYQP, and also I think the IAQP. Plus there is the usual plethora of mobiles running around on 20 meters. (To top it off I spilled a whole full large cup of DD coffee all over the kitchen floor and had to mop that up).

Well anyway, I started off by working the Hanse 10-10 chapter net on 28.355 out of Germany. They Germans were booming in. Then I started to try and catch a few of the 10-10 CW contest stations, caught a few. Also working some NY stations in the QP on 20, 15 and 10 meters. Some of them have pretty respectable signals despite only being next state over. And the DLs are still booming in on 10 meters. So looks like the bands are doing well today.

Who else got to play around this weekend.

Al

Friday, Saturday & Sunday I intened to work the WAG SSB and JARTS RTTY Contests.

Instead I worked the JARTS RTTY Test only, Ended up wit a claimed score of 40000.

After Sunday's start on 10M, worked up the Bands until 40M in the evening. Worked a LOT of two and three Band contacts so hopefully the multipliers will give it a kick!

Never made it to the WAG or JOTA. Instead I figured to make the best score possible in JARTS instead of a moderate score in both and JOTA.

Lot of fun but there comes a limit working RTTY and having to listen to that RTTY tone for hours.

Lots of QRM on 40M from fairly distant stations. Had a nice long run on 15M but the frequency was hijacked!! O well, I moved on.
