Rules and regulations

Folks,
............UPDATED...........
Trying to clear up any confusion about working as W1NRG and as yourself during a contest.
Spoke to W1MSW at the ARRL a few moments ago.

1. One can operate as W1NRG at the club house, leave the club house when your shift is over and work from home under your own personal call sign. Perfectly legal.

2. It is not legal to operate at W1NRG at the club house during a contest and switch your call to your person call sign (I heard HI on Sunday and really wanted to contact the station as KC1AXJ... that is a no-no during a contest).

3. For all ARRL contests as of today (minus Field Day) it is ok to operate W1NRG at the club house, return to your QTH operate under your own call sign and QSO W1NRG

4. If there is no official club score keeper then that function falls to the Secretary of the club. They brought up some interesting points;
a) must have at least three logs submitted for a given contest to be considered to be added to the club score.
b) The list of folks that could have operated for a given contest (10M in the most recent case) must be sent to contest@arrl.net or w1msw@arrl.net within 30 days of the contest.
i) This should consist of all possible club members for a given area (Connecticut members as we have folks that reside outside of Connecticut that are members of our club).
ii) It's good to have all the folks that could operate on the list, if someone submits and aren't on the list then that log isn't considered.

I plan to submit our list of who could have potentially operated to the ARRL in the next day.

Good info, thanks Steve. When I was working my shift at the clubhouse, several of our other operators contacting me from their home stations. I worked them, but was concerned about the rule implications. Thanks for checking on this.

I'm also glad to hear that I can work as a club operator and then go home and work contacts from my home station. Could I have submitted a personal log from my home station as well? Or does volunteering as a club station operator prevent this?

According to the rules you can operate from home as KC1BAQ but can not make a QSO with W1NRG. When you were logging in the club house as W1NRG did you log members of the club? If so I will ask the ARRL if we can manually edit the log to remove them from the log of the club (they should do the same from their log).

W1MSW at the ARRL got back to me... retract all that was said about not working W1NRG from your QTH...it is perfectly ok to do that. Only on Field Day is that not allowed. Matt (W1MSW) looked up the rules for us and said we are good to go even if we operated as W1NRG then when home and worked W1NRG from your QTH.

Yes, several members made logged QSOs with W1NRG.
