TI9/3Z9DX Cocos Island DXpedtion Is Active
#1

A DXpedition to Cocos Island is Active until February 23rd. This one is number 26 in the DXCC wanted list. Cocos Island is located off the coast of Costa Rica propagation should be similar to TI. The team consists of four operators each from a different country. They are running 2 radios and vertical and dipole antennas. Bands are 160 through 10 meters plus they have an antenna for 6 meters.

Their web page is at: http://www.nielsen.net/ti9a/

Wow! I could not believe that this one was so tough. They had a decent signal even with only dipoles and the CW ops were super, knocking them off two or three a minute steady. I just needed them on 17 and 12. 17 meters took a couple of hours of work. 12 meters took about 5 hours of calling, usually I can put these chip shots in in the log in about an hour, it's just finding a quiet place in the pile and keep throwing your call in. One ZL posted that the US pileup was "massive" which was sort of a surprise for a Friday afternoon. I would have thought all the "children" were either at work or school. But at least I finished this one up. Now everyone else can have him. Unless he comes up on 6 meters, I'm done.

What exactly are "Children"?
My general term for the DX police and band QRMers who were out in force that day. Children must play games.
