Get Trained To Help In A Disaster

"Training? I don't need no stinkin' training!"

Ok, so you know how to run a radio, but do you know how to work with local, state, and federal agencies during a major emergency?

After hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the federal government realized that there was a need to establish national standard that would help government and volunteer organizations work together more effectively.

The result was the development of a National Incident Management Framework (NIMS). The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) has developed training for volunteers at the federal, state, and local levels.

By having everyone trained to work together, we will all be more effective in providing auxiliary communications in times of emergency.

These four training courses will be conducted on Saturday mornings starting in January and running into early March 2016.

Those students who complete each of the following courses and pass the exam will receive a certificate of completion issued by FEMA:
IS-100.b - The Incident Command System (ICS)

IS-200.b - Resources and Initial Action Incidents

IS-700.a - The National Incident Management System (NIMS)

IS-800.b - The National Response Framework

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and the Milford Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)/Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) in conjunction with 2 Milford Clubs (Coastline ARA & Milford Amateur Radio Repeater Assoc) are partnering to provide FREE emergency training for its volunteer organizations.

Register early because seating will be limited to 40 students from across all of CT Region 2 which consists of about 30 towns. We are very fortunate to have this training so close to home (1/2 hr drive). So please take advantage of it.
