Armed Forces Cross Band Test
#1
The Armed Forces Cross Band Test begins on Saturday at 1200UTC. The object is to work MARS stations at various military bases. They will be transmitting on their military frequencies and listening on ham frequencies. So hams will be listing on the military frequencies and transmitting on ham frequencies. In ham lingo we would be working splits.

This is a fun event and you will receive a QSL card and letter from the stations you work.

Give it a try. The link below lists the stations that will be on the air. Not all stations will be on through out the entire event so you will have to hunt around. I try to participate every year. Last year not many contacts but in previous years I did pretty good. Good luck.

Didn't hear much until late in the day. Made QSO with AAZ at 22:44Z on 20m. Pretty easy to work, the operator announced very clearly where he was listening. Just set my rig up for split and made the QSO after about three tries.

I managed to work 4 stations. Most of the difficulty was finding stations since there were a lot of potential stations and bands that they could be working. Don't really know if all were actually on the air.

NMN - Chesapeake VA on 40 meters
NWKJ - USS Yorktown SC on 40 meters
AGA9TR - Travis AFB CA on 20 meters
NIIW - USS Midway San Diego CA on 20 meters

Heard several others but unable to work them.

I only worked AGA9TR at Travis AFB CA on 20m, 14310/14411 kHz.
