The JT modes are great and you can really get out there with 20W or less. Generally what I've seen is 5 to 10w is normal and 20W is concidered "high power". I use the wsjtx1.3 software that decodes both JT65 and JT9 mode. I made my own interface using a board from easydigi and works pretty good. Couple that with an external USB sound "card" and you've got a disposable interface that only sets you back about $30. My first attempt at JT mode was using my mike as the input that was set near my computer speaker... it worked!
Any comments/advice you can give on selecting MIXW, DigiPan, FLdigi, & others would be appreciated, especially if you use the Signalink USB.
Recently purchased a Signalink USB for use with my TS-450. Made my first QSO with BPSK last night but I'm unsure if the TX is tuned proper.
The Tutorials that I saw were incomplete and the guides are.... just guides. Tried tuning with FLdigi and could not get the ALC to back off using the TX Audio control. Processor was off.
I guess I could contact Tigertronics as a last resort.
Thanks for reading.
SSTV I've played with well. I don't seem to hear a lot of traffic on that mode. No contacts to date, but have decoded a few CQ's.
Good luck.
