I was doing a little recon tonight on the 2014 high scorers in the 2A category. Here is what I've learned so far...
Looks like some other folks are using N1MM with the reporting clusters for field day:

Here are some field day pictures from some top scoring clubs:
#1 - Radio Amateurs of Northern VT.
http://www.ranv.org/pictures.html
You'll notice that they setup a tower for both CW and SSB and on each tower and looks like they have beams for the popular bands (perhaps 20M and 15M). See their pics from 2013 and 2012.
#3 - Newport County Radio Club
http://w1sye.org/?page_id=507
(Very well organized toward the bottom of the page with operator schedules, press releases, served agency invites, etc.)
# 5 Randallstown ARC (DC area)
http://icengineering.com/n3ic/rarc/fd14/
These guys use N1MM on laptops at each station all networked back to a master laptop with a synced database. Pretty cool stuff! I was also impressed with their post field day analysis performed from their log data so they could improve next year: http://icengineering.com/download?n3ic/r...fd2014.xls
#12 - Falmouth Amateur Radio Association (Cape Cod Area)
http://www.falara.org/fd/fdscore.html
They present an interesting breakdown of the contacts they made on each band and by mode.
http://youtu.be/RIdJRe3vlno (Youtube video of their 2013 field day site)
They use military surplus crank up towers for the beams.
Let's start making plans to improve our operations for 2015! Please share your thoughts here
